What Rotary Cutter Do You Like?

Trixie wants something. I think she wants to go out. Shhh. Don't say that word out loud. She came into my sewing room just to find me.
Yup, that's what she wanted. Doesn't she know it's COLD out?

Which kind of rotary cutter is your favorite? I admit I have been an advocate of several, but right now my favorite is this one:

I like that either side of the blade, for a rightie or a leftie will open. I'm a rightie, can you tell? It looks like the blade will be easy to change too. I just got this one from the package last week.

When I'm cutting full WOF pieces, I like this one, with a big blade:

I can show you one I don't like too. This one doesn't feel good in my hand. My wrist feels unnatural.
I do like how the blade pops back in tho.

I also like the new(ish) ones from Olfa that have snazzy colors:
And Fiskars have some in very fancy patterns. It's nice to have fun designs.

I'm so glad you left a second comment on my SWC series post - so I know you weren't offended ; ) but also because the link back didn't work in the first and I wanted to pop over and check out your blog! You're off to a great start. You should go link up with Sew Fresh Quilts' Bee Social - http://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com. As for rotary cutters, I just use a plain old grey Fiskars. I haven't seen that they have ones with designs - I might need an upgrade!

I have to admit that I have several but....my first one and favorite to use is the Olfa 28mm which you don't seem to see much anymore. I think it is all what you get used to. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. I use a Fiskars 45mm. I recently was in the market for a new one and considered that last Olfa (in teal), but I decided that it didn't look comfortable and I would probably leave the blade out more often than not. Instead I got another Fiskars; this time in maroon and white! I do love fun colors.

My favorite is the Ergonomic Olfa 45mm. Retractable blade...always a plus and it just feels good in my hand! I do have a tiny one which I rarely ever use!

I had the cheapest blade I could buy. And the blades would end up wearing out in the center hole, causing the blade to go all wobbly. Then I bought a splash cutter. And I LOVE it! Changing the blade could never be easier. And, yes, it is pretty, too. Thanks for sharing the picture of your Trixie. She is gorgeous and who could resist those eyes?!!!

I love any cutter that works ;) being a south paw as long as feels good and the blades are easy to purchase :)

I love my Gingher 45mm all I have ever used :) so really I guess I wouldn't know if I liked any other LOL I do have an Olfa smaller blade that I bought but never really use.

I guess there's something for everyone! I use that little Martinelli with the red handle that made your wrist feel out of sorts. I love my Martinelli! I originally bought it because I have a wrist problem and I needed to hold a cutter with my hand on top so the wrist wasn't bent. I really like it, I've used it for about 8 years now. You can also sit down and cut with it--if you ever have the desire to do so!

I have the ergonomic Olfa, I have carpal tunnel and while I don't sew a lot, I wanted an ergonomic tool. Other pluses -- the lock (because at the time I had a toddler), and the retractable blade. I have never tried any other one. I switch occasionally to a pinking blade but it wasn't worth it to buy a second handle.

This was interesting to me as I have a cutter at the moment ( not Olfa) that I don't think works very well. I've noticed a lot of the people on craftsy tutorials seem to use olfa ones and they definitely work better than mine so next time I have a few spare pennies I will give it a try. I really like my new splash cutter- the blue and yellow one. I was having trouble with wobbly blades in one of my older cutters. I think I might have lost a washer or something.
