I'm So Impressed!

As I said, we're in Florida. They have flowers! I haven't seen flowers growing in the ground in a few months. It would be so interesting to see what grows down here in the summer. Of course, summer is when I expect to see flowers growing. But maybe it's too hot down here for things to bloom? I don't know. Last winter we stopped at a tomato farm on the side of the road and got a basket of tomatoes. Heavenly! We had BLT sandwiches several times. Winter tomatoes in Michigan are pitiful. These had glorious taste!

Anyway, there's a huge cactus bush (?) near the entrance of this campground. Here are some pictures:

I don't know what kind they are. Do you?

Thanks,
Lin

Yay for warm weather :) I initially thought Prickly Pear. . . but that flower has me stumped. . .

I'll have to check that one out in my book. The flowers sure are striking.
I think Florida must be a nice place to visit this time of year. Enjoy your stay.

They definitely belong to the "Opuntia" family. (Same family as the prickly Pear) I couldn't find a common name. The flowers have an interesting shape and it is an interesting time of year to be in bloom ... the plot thickens.
