Different to Me

Things are different to me because we're in Florida, instead of the cold blustery north. It doesn't feel like Christmas time to me, Christmas carols just feel out of place, I can't get into Christmas shopping. I felt like I got two summers. Not that I'm complaining, you know. I like this weather so much more than having to bundle up to get the mail. Low 70s today. Woo Hoo!

Along with the strange (to me) weather, comes plants that I don't expect to be growing profusely in December.

Look how lush this looks. Don't you expect to see Tarzan swinging out on a vine?

Until I pan the camera a little to the left, and you see the campground. There are lots of lakes in this campground.

All with their resident critters. There's an alligator in the lake behind us. The lake is perhaps 50' behind our camper. He scares me, but mostly in regards to Trixie. But she's always on a leash, so I think I'm good.

There's a sign:

I definitely obey this sign.

Thanks,
Lin

Lin, I have been in AZ for over 20 years full time and have never gotten used to Christmas without snow! It's just not 'normal' to see lights and decorated trees while wearing shorts! LOL Now, that does NOT mean that I go back to MN for Christmas. . . typically avoid it like the plague!!

I'd take heed to that sign too.... That might freak me out a little ;)

I used to live in Port St. John, FL, and my husband and I definitely agree that our time in Florida spoiled our Christmas spirit. It was just so hard to get into the Christmas swing of things when we could put on a swimsuit and head to the beach... yeah, alligators are a bit worrisome sometimes, but keeping Trixie on a leash should keep everyone safe.

I lived in Rochester NY for 5 years before coming down to SC and I can't say that I miss the snow. I like being able to feel my hands as I put up the lights on the house :)

My hubby always says the same thing every year "it doesn't feel like Christmas" no matter how hard I try he is just so used to it being cold (he's from London) and in Australia you are only ever going to get a hot Christmas.

I think I can get into the Christmas spirit without snow but December 25th is a regular working day in Tokyo.
